Plant Properties

Anti-inflammatory - Ginkgo Leaf is anti-inflammatory, reducing inflammation in the body. The body’s natural immune defense is to send inflammatory cells to combat foreign properties. However, excessive inflammation damages nerve tissue over time and is linked to diseases such as cancer, arthritis and diabetes.

Antioxidant - There are powerful antioxidants present in Ginkgo that help to fight against harmful substances called “free radicals”, created during the body’s metabolic process. As we age, more free radicals build in the body contributing to illness. The antioxidants work to prevent damage and preserve our DNA and other cells.

Anti-platelet - Platelets are pieces of cells from our bone marrow that help to stop bleeding or help wounds heal. When the body forms too many of them, they can stick together leading to health issues like blood clots and poor circulation. Anti-platelets assist in breaking them up, allowing blood to flow smoothly.

Antispasmodic - Helps soothe spasms of the muscles, especially in the bladder, intestines and stomach. During digestion, the intestines contract to move food through them. When the intestines contract irregularly it can lead to discomfort such as in irritable bowel syndrome.

Cerebral & Circulatory Stimulant - Stimulates the brain and blood by increasing circulation, alertness, focus, energy and signals to the brain.

Neuroprotective - Protects the functions of the nervous system due to neurodegenerative disorders. Around the world, it is most commonly used to treat Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease by protecting nerve cells damaged as a result of the sickness. Research has shown that Ginkgo Leaf helps with memory, thinking, and learning in dementia patients. They are able to have fewer instances of depression and display improved social behavior

Peripheral Vasodilator - Dilates or opens the blood vessels so blood flows easier through the peripheral parts of the body; ie arms, legs, etc.
